"I spent the month of February in Tahiti and neighboring Islands researching Gaugin's Story..." says Armand Assante

As you can figure out, this movie never became of anything.
It was a great disappointment for Armand Assante that dreamed of doing this part, allmost all his life.
It was Gaugiun's dobble natur and complexed mind, that appeal to him as an actor.
Actually he once said he didīnt particularry like Gaguins art, he liked Vincent Van Gogh's paintings better.

Paul Gauguin...Wikipedia.

Gauguin married danish Mette and had 5 children with her.
They lived once in Copenhagen. He left his good daytime job and abandoned his family to persue his artistic talent on Tahiti and died ill and broke.
The names of his children was: Pola, Emile, Clovis (named after his grandfather) , Jean, and Aline. Gauguin was actually once making a living as a stockbroker.

"California Dreaminī"

This interview neither have a date nor year added to it. But I presume itīs from 2007 because of it's mentioning of "American Gangster"

Describing himself as a journeyman actor who has been on the road for 40 years, Assante notes that he doesn’t have any particular message that he’s trying to express through the various characters he plays.
However, he is always looking for ways to stretch himself as an actor so that he doesn’t get bored.

"...A lot of the films I make are not crowd-pleasers but they are provocative in their own way. They may be more for university or art house audiences.
However, in that genre, they’re incredibly respectable and I think they’ll find their legs...." says Armand Assante

Armand Assante is performing Padre Antonio and says about 'him':
"He's actually more like an intelligence operative disguised as a priest,
I'm only in two or three scenes, but I'm kind of excited to be a part of it.

I worked with the writer R. Ellis Frazier before, on a film I made called 'Confessions of a Pit Fighter,' and I found him to be a compelling storyteller.

'La Linea' is a fantastic script. It's about the possibility of how someone will set out to be a terrorist through the Mexican drug routes. It's all very smart, a smart cast, very charged."

"American Gangster" is romanticized says Armand Assante

In my homework on these people, they were quite vicious, and I've seen my fair share of it.
I've met characters who have been in and out of that world, and most of them were either serving time, did time or are out of time in more ways than one.
And, certainly, the ramifications and repercussions of leading that life leave a pretty dark shadow on your soul, so I can't say anything but that Hollywood does indeed romanticize everything about that world.
If you do the homework and study the journalism, it's rarely depicted the way it truly is, which is more out of a horror movie."
. "I worked with Ridley back in 1991 and 1992 on '1492: Conquest of Paradise.'
I had pneumonia through that whole thing, and he was so gracious to me.
I just think the world of him as a person. And Denzel was amazing to work with. … This will far-and-away be one of his biggest films."

What was your first job?
I was 16 years old and working on the assembly line of a pocketbook factory. I lasted six hours. Then I quit.
If you weren't an actor, what would you be doing?
I would have been a musician or a writer. I love the creative process. I love getting to the essence of something.
What's on your iPod?
I can listen to the "Meditation from Thais" by Massenet all night. Or Led Zeppelin. I have a tremendously eclectic musical taste.
What's the last good movie you saw?
The film that disturbed me the most this year was Cristian Mungiu's movie about abortion, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days. I think it should be shown in every high school across the continent.
What TV show must you watch every week?
I do TV occasionally to make a living, but I don't watch it. Except for the BBC News and The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.

"I've played a vast panoply of roles. I used to call myself "ethnic everyman" I've done every accent - accents people even didīn know existed " he says.

He talks about "California Dreamin`" "When Nietzsche Wept", the landmine documentary "Blind Dragon" , even "Fatal Instinct", "Paradise Alley", "Lord of Flatbush", "Kidnapped" and many more. And of course he mentions his beloved daughters.

"Over the years, I'ved learned that every thing I do in life is based on my relationsship with someone. Everything I've accomplished is based on human relationships on a very deep level. We do nothing in life alone, no matter how much we say we're alone" says a philosophical Armand Assante.

"I want to create an enviroment where my children can be productive. If I had the financial freedom, I proberly would build some kind of school......When kids have self-esteem and feel good about themselves and their lifes, and when they have teachers with the patience to stick it out, I think miracles can happen. Haute Living Magazine has among other places a department in Miami, Florida
Armand Assante has recently given this amazing interview to Haute Living Magazin

"............And now, when he is at the top of his game, he is about to make a bold move that will shift him behind the camera, although the details are a bit scarce.
He doesn’t want to make any promises he can’t keep. “A lot of people tend to talk about the future as if it’s the present,” he states, a troubling trend in an industry that so often hypes projects that don’t ever see the light of day.
Right now, a quick look at Assante’s IMDB page lists 11 projects in various stages of production, yet the actor will only confirm involvement in a few, stating that people like to adhere his name to projects to lend some weight in hopes that the film could get the funding needed to get it out of the gate........
.."

Armand is up to something hush, hush ....

".....So while he is hesitant to give the details of what the near future has in store for him, he will continue to approach each project with the passion that he is known for.
Assante is fiercely loyal, even to a fault. “I had a psychiatrist who told me 20 years ago that I had a responsibility conflict. He said that if I continue with my heart-felt responsibility towards my family and friends that I’m eventually going to drop dead.”.....

and he has'nt dropped ......anything yet....

The phone rings. Armand Assante is on the line. "I'm sorry," he says, "but I just have to call my daughter. I'll be back with you in thirty seconds." interview
Armand Assante
"The Return of Joe Rich"

expected to be released in 2010

Small but good interview with the ever hardworking Armand Assante that works on a role for the movie "The Return of Joe Rich" and also is developing a comedy in Chicago for the time being...

www.hollywoodchicago.com/news

The plot is:
"... Joe believed in right and wrong until... His job outsourced to India.
His teaser rate spiked. His wife bailed.
But Joe has a plan...to get it all back, and more. Joe returns home, to the last place on planet Earth where real men can be found...Chicago. Joe's Uncle Dominic is "connected". Joe wants in...to The Mob, or "The Outfit", as it is called in Chicago.
And he'll do anything to make it happen. Can a wanna-be wise guy live a long and happy life ? A way cool element of The Return of Joe Rich is amazing HD documentary footage of 10 real-life "Chicago Guys" ages 73 to 89.
These "guys" found themselves in the same predicament, in real life, in the 1930's, 40's, and 50's, that Joe does today.
They form a "Greek Chorus" which inter-cuts with the present day narrative of The Return of Joe Rich. Written bySam Auster. ..."
