Joint project with Hallmark Entertainment and Rockefeller Center based on NBC´s Miniseries "The Odyssey"
premiering May 18 and 19 (1997)
NBC´s educational exhibit built around Homer´s classic Greek tale, "The Odyssey" opned May 5, with 3.000 students from the New York City area scheduled to tour facility in school groups. The special exhibition, a joint project with Halmark Entertaiment and Rockefeller Center, runs through Monday, May 26, at 40 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
The exhibit focuses on the epic story of Odysseus, which will be recounted in the world premiere miniseries: "The Odysseus" produced by Hallmark Entertainment.
A special feature of the exhibition is three life-sized creatures designed and created by the Jim Henderson Creature Shop for the miniseries. The fullsized, animated creatures---the Cyclops, Scylla and Talking Pig---were flown to New York from the Europe for the exhibt. They greet visitors in the street-level exihibition space, near the Rockefeller Center skating rink.
NBC´s recreation of Homer´s world provides vast educational information as part of the exhibition: Video displays, computer terminals, books (which Armand signed....! 3.000 times?!?) and printed materials give visitors a detailed look at "The Odyssey" and provide an insightfull introduction to the classics and to the art of movie making.
In addition to the exhibit, NBC distrubuted approximately 80.000 educational poster/study guides to high school principals, public libraries, and affiliate stations across the country. The guide includes specific reproducible activities designed to help students understand the relevant lessons of ancent civilization, the power of storytelling, and the many literary forms use to impart information.
"The Odyssey" was filmed in Turkey, Maltha, Sicily and at Shepperton Studios near London. Many of the props used during the filming are displayed at the Rochefeller exhibit. They are loan form Hallmark Entertainment, producer of "The Odyssey".

The director Steve Martinez (also behind "Citizen Verdict" and "Dot.Kill") and the whole artistic staff making the movie "Steam" went from location Detroit to Grand Rapids, Michigan and rewrote the manuscript, so that the plot going on in the movie actually took place in Grand Rapids it self. They build movie set inside the city's Amway Grand Plaza Hotel....

Armand Assante, recently filmed a car chase scene and interior car sequence on Sunrise Highway in Merrick.
Merrick, New York was originally called "Meroke" by the original Algonquin Tribe that lived there.
It means "peacefull"
A great deal of famous people live here among these many authors and actors...
The filming of this movie started in May 2010.
"Jesse" is about a Nassau County, New York Police detective Jesse turns vigilante as she investigates her brother's murder and enters into a world of crime, corruption, and shocking deception. Based on a true life story.
Armand Assante's role is named Dominick and in the role as Vince the Godfather is William Forsythe. He was Sammy Gravano in "Gotti".
